em>Phaseolus coccineus p>/em>em>L.p>/em>
High-climbing bean with attractive red flowers and long thread-like pods containing tasty, large dry kernels.
The name shows where the old cultivated variety "Schwabenbohne" was used. It is therefore not surprising that this combined with other regional specialties such as Spätzle results in a tasty nutritious combination, which is hardly available today. The fire bean likes to grow high and needs 2-4 m high poles for optimal growth. Since fire beans crossbreed, slightly different beans are in circulation under the name depending on the region. Particularly also for cooler, rougher situations suitably.
